Seriously... Where does the other sock end up?

Journal Entry: Sat May 12, 2007, 7:24 AM
Faves
Prints
Photos

The first modern attempt to explain the fundamental questions of laundry involved the decay theory. which states that the quantity of socks in a load can be expressed as a decreasing exponential function of time which is analogous to radioactive decay
Nt =N0*exp(-pt)   Right :laughing:

And the same subject was also approached by the "Quantum theory"
which explained  that  "The disappearance of socks is the result of a quantum threshold event. Each time you clean your dryer lint trap you are actually removing a small portion of a theoretical sock from the net volume of clothes. Through repeated lint trap cleanings it becomes necessary for a sock to be completely consumed. The sock retains its identity as a sock until the threshold moment at which the theoretical mass of removed lint exceeds the mass of a sock, at which point one of the aforementioned stockings vanishes in a puff of logic :D
The US Government actually funded this research   and silly me thought that my x wife had planed a conspiracy theory on me ...that poor angel ...Right :)`

*That was really bothering me since I have noticed that I've lost Socks in the past 3 weeks!

*Please take a look at my Featured Artist as I will try to Feature an artist that have under 10,000 pageview in my journal weekly just a way to give back to the Community.

Creative Works-Be Inspired
haha.nu/creative/creative-phot…

The Journal
I will tell you about that in the end of this journal but now I like to talk about why are we here on devianART.
If you like you can tell me here why you are on deviantART but here's what I think ..We (the photographers) all share at least one common interest, our love of photography - the professional, the dedicated amateur or the beginner. We all enjoy getting out in open air and snapping away with our cameras to capture that perfect moment Right? deviantART has many members ranging from the very good to some who are not so good (I count myself in the latter group) Through our submissions we sometimes get some good constructive advise or critique (at least I hope so) and through this and browsing other photographers deviations we get the idea on how to accomplish what we desire.
We are here to improve our technique and therefore our results. Keep posting your pictures, keep commenting on others work and Critiquing  and we all improve.

*From 5 feet high here goes my Nikon face down with my new Sigma 10-20mm sitting on my tripod :steaming: however I was standing in a open grass muddy field  this just to let you guys know that Nikon is a pretty well built camera, good thing I didn't pick up a Canon :D so I only ended up with a mud covered lens and body..had to clean it out for about an hour with Q-tips! but all okay...wish you all a good weekend and a happy productive work week, all your comments and favourites are really appreciated sorry if I didn't have the chance to answer with my hectic work/life..I will be moving as well as I'm thinking about a new Job, I will keep you all posted, make sure to check out my featured artist she's got some Fantastic work.
*Also please click on the link to the top right and see how creative and inspirational some photographers can be.

<div class="heading2>Nothing too important ...</div>

But lets talk about white balance...

During the course of the last year, my learning curve has been pretty steep, reading articles, taking shots and generally being a bore to my friends focusing on my new passion for photography. I pretty soon realized that if I wanted to take great shots(yet to be achieved :wtf:) I would have to look at all the angles, not just the composition but all the tech stuff behind.

What that got to with white balance? well  it's amazing but  our eyes has a remarkable ability to adjust to different light conditions. We have built-in auto-focus system and auto-exposure!!! we also have automatic colour balance built into our brains. A white object will appear white to us whether viewed in sunlight or under cloudy skies :wow:.
So on most digital cameras the white balance setting defaults to "Auto" mode. I used this setting for a while and found that it works in most situations but is not very accurate. To achieve greater accuracy I needed to go into the menu mode and set the appropriate preset white balance setting for the shot which could be "sunny", "cloudy", "flash", "night shot" etc.  Setting the white balance incorrectly will not only make the white appear bluish or reddish (depending on the setting) but will make all the other colors in the image to be rendered incorrectly as well.
So I highly recommend that you setup your white balance before you go out shoot (unless you shoot in RAW) and not let the camera make that crucial decision for you it did make a huge difference for me, that and a few cold beers in my backpack made my outings a lot of fun! but make sure that it is LIGHT  so your shots won't come out blurry :D

Photo Manipulations? So What!

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 15, 2007, 10:47 AM

Some People Are Making A Big Issue Regarding Photo Manips..here's My Answer To Cweeks Last Week's Journal,  Read On :)

With all do respect to your opinion I thought to drop you a line to let you know how I feel Regarding This issue ..Particularly since it does effect my work and the way I Post-process My Photos, In the past couple of months I have been considering many aspects of photography. One of the topics I have been wrestling with myself is how much an image should be altered from its original state. Simply stated, is there a line that I cross if I digitally manipulate the colors of an image. After a bit of consideration I have decided there is no line to begin with. Now I know for some traditional photographers this is a definite miscalculation. However, consider the argument that every image is altered from the original scene, For Me as I visualize the image I want to produce, I consider how best to portray what I see. First, let's consider the films we use(if you do)  The traditional black and white films are altering what we would naturally see because the majority of us have the ability to see color. For those who are familiar with the dark room knows perfectly well the amount of alterations they make as they crop, dodge and burn, add or subtract contrast, and the other various techniques involved in producing a quality print However, color films also alter the natural scene as well. Many landscape photographers use a saturated color films. This slide film is extremely color saturated so it enhances and at times distorts the actual scene(how's that for manipulation?)
Another Point would be The lens selection wich alters the natural scene. Wide-angle lenses are often used in landscape photography and no human eye can see in the way the lens translates the image on film. Telephoto lenses act as if we are wearing binoculars, once again an altering effect. So the only "natural lens" would be equivalent to the human eye. However, the 50mm lens (for 35mm cameras) still doesn't account for an unaltered image.

That is why I don't understand the thought that photographers can "cross a line" when manipulating images digitally. It is all in an effort to portray a feeling or communicate a thought through an image.
That's My 10 Cents thank you for bringing this issue up You Are indeed a valued asset to da :)
Regards
